My first collection of the new year, and it feels right that it is full of snowy magic.

Here in Maine, we have had a proper winter with blankets of snow spread far and wide. Winter is my favorite season, I never feel more jubilant and comforted than when I am tromping through fresh snowfall or indoors looking out wrapped head to toe in my favorite knitted blanket, preferably with a book under my arm.

And it feels perfectly perfect to start the year with a collection dedicated to the icy moons of winter, the February moon, the Snow Moon. These pieces I have made for you are positively made from moonglow on snow and a forest painted azure.

Rings for pulling down silver boughs to feel the snowfall on your cheeks. Earrings for standing still in a midwinter moment. Jewelry for conjuring furtive magic.

I even kept a few pieces for myself. With everything happening in the world, and my business on rather wobbly legs (see the end of the blog post for a bit on the current state of silver prices and the future of my work) I felt I need a bit of its calming magic.

Iridescent moonstone rings, the jewelry of my snowy dreams.

Icy white stones, some with a gentle whisper of a blue shimmer across the surface.

Others that crackle and flash boldly.

All set in sterling silver, with a brushed silver crescent moon balanced on either side of the stone.

And set atop a rectangle band, textured to look organic and full of shadows.

Sizes are as given on the mandrel.

Snow Moon Earrings
There will be 20 pairs available.
Measure about 50mm (2”) from the top of
the
earwire to the bottom of the gemstone.
Price: $122 per pair

Because I just love to make earrings for you, I also made a handful of simple, everyday earrings for those who’d like a bit of moonlight to carry throughout the day.

They feel like pure, understated magic, all winter glow and sterling silver.

These earrings are made to be lightweight and gentle. They feature brushed silver moons suspended above rainbow moonstones.

The stones in the earrings mostly have a very soft schiller, a gentle blue sheen to play across the tops of the stones.

When the light doesn’t hit them just right, they look like sweet, little drops of crackled ice and snow.

They are suspended from simple french earwires.
And with these pieces, that’s everything that will be in Part I of the Snow Moon offering!

A quick note about silver prices and my work,
and a bit of gratitude for you,
in case you didn’t catch the Instagram post about it:
This past year was tough, not because of anything in our personal lives, but because of the wider economic situation.
For my metalsmithing, 2024 felt like the beginning of a return to pre-pandemic times. The creativity was flowing, materials and costs were easing a bit, everything was moving forward. And then 2025 arrived and everything flipped. In the past 12 months, the cost of silver went from about $27/oz to $78/oz due to economic instability and our country’s trade wars. Which is astronomical considering many silversmiths were struggling with the inflationary pandemic jump from $18/oz to $27/oz. And then for the month of January, it raced up to $120/oz before settling back down around $80/oz. These swings have been terrifying and unsustainable.
Coupled with the brain melting increase in material costs in 2025, tariffs have made it too hard for overseas patrons to continue buying my work as well, which means even less with which to continue buying materials. I know soooo many metalsmiths who have closed theirs studios and have given up trying to make a living through their hands. Wells of creativity shuttered, resulting in a little less beauty in the world.
I don’t know what this year will bring, but my wish is for a shift in this country. A shift in awareness, in sentiment, in policy, in intent, in leadership, in most things honestly, except for you. So many familiar names run through my hands as I am packaging up your orders, and it fills my heart in a way that is hard to explain. You continue to choose my work despite the unavoidable price increases, buoying me in an unrelenting sea. You keep showing up for me, consistent and beautiful, the best thing about doing this work last year.
That I am still able to live this little dream of mine, while also keeping the lights on and feeding the kitties, despite the myriad of ways 2025 has turned everything to shit, is no small miracle. I am here because of you, and I sing a song of gratitude with every hammer strike, saw cut, and dream whispered into metal.
