Wordsworth Rings: Sun, May 3rd, 7pm EST

May 1, 2026 · Leave a Comment

This Sunday, the Wordsworth Rings will bloom onto the shop shelves! The last release before the shops close up for the months of May and June.

I mentioned in the last Pocketful of Poesies release that it was the start of a series. For the next year or so, I will be creating my own little odes from silver and stone, odes to poems that have been significant to me through the years.

There will be Emily Dickinson and Lord Alfred Tennyson, Robert Frost and Dylan Thomas. Some poems that serenaded my soul for a brief moment in time, and others that I have carried for decades. And this Sunday’s collection is my ode to a poem by William Wordsworth.

“Lines Written in Early Spring”
By William Wordsworth

I heard a thousand blended notes,
While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.

To her fair works did Nature link
The human soul that through me ran;
And much it grieved my heart to think
What man has made of man.

Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And ’tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.

The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:—
But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.

The budding twigs spread out their fan,
To catch the breezy air;
And I must think, do all I can,
That there was pleasure there.

If this belief from heaven be sent,
If such be Nature’s holy plan,
Have I not reason to lament
What man has made of man?

As a child, I used to spend hours pretending to be Jo March. I would set up a little table in the living room with a candle and a fancy cup of tea, and pretend to read all my Mum’s fanciest looking books.

(The hold that Winona Ryder’s depiction of Jo March had on my childhood should be studied. I positively wore that VHS to shreds!)

Eventually as I got older, rather than just pretending to read the books of poetry, I began to actually read them. And one of the earliest poems I stumbled upon and fell in love with was the Wordsworth poem I shared above. It was in a tattered old hardcover with gilt edges, I remember it so clearly!

It was the first poem that taught me the beauty of personifying the landscape, a writing technique that I constantly find myself using. And it also showed me that poetry could be jubilant without being silly, joyous without being childish.

A poem depicting the sweet pleasure of watching springtime unspool across a landscape, ending with a lamentation that not all people will take joy in it.

And this ring is my ode to that Wordsworth poem.

Rings as soft as April warmth, and sweet as a wildflower bouquet.

Gentle pink rose quartz gemstones, like tiny cherry blossoms soaking up sunshine.

Soft white moonstones with a flicker of blue sky amidst the wisps of clouds.

And ephemeral blooms captured in sterling silver petals and shining brass centers.

The stones and flowers were carefully paired and then simply set atop an adjustable split half-round bands that have been lightly textured to look like tree bark.

I give the size as they read on the mandrel, but this is just a size suggestion for as they look in the photos, they are easily adjustable.

Adjustable so they may be worn in all the seasons of your life.

Like the poems you read in your youth, and tuck in your pocket to carry throughout the years.

And that’s everything about the last offering before the shops close up!

My fella and I have kept it under wraps until we were able to send out cards and pictures, but we eloped in January!

With sea spray on his suit and glass pearls in my hair, we got married on a tall, wintery cliff in Newfoundland just after our twentieth anniversary.

And so! That’s why the shops will be closed up for the months of May and June. We will be going on an extended (sort of) honeymoon to Japan. We have dreamed and planned this for years, and what a lovely first trip to take together as a married couple. So so so excited! If I can be organized about it, I will try to share some stories on Instagram during our trip.

The main shop and the Etsy shop will close on May 6th. So if you would like to pluck something for a special occasion, or just to have a new piece of jewelry to mark the start of summer, grab something before then!
All orders will ship by May 8th.

This collection will bloom on the shop shelves on

Sunday, May 3rd at 7:00 p.m. EST.
