I have long wanted to revisit the “Pocketful” design from several years ago. Pieces pulling together disparate elements and gemstones to tell a story. That necklace, “Pocketful of Winter” featured gemstones and design elements that felt like a tiny collection of winter itself: icy blue aquamarine, sparkling black druzy, earthy pyrite, and snowy quartz. A winter day you could hold in your hand.
And this new small offering of rings, I am calling “Pocketful of Poesy.”

By definition, “poesy” is writing that uses evocative language and rhythm to draw out an emotional response from the reader. Romantic descriptions, deep language, words rendering the ethereal practically tangible.

And this design is my ode to poetry, the kind you pick up through your life and place in your pocket for later. The kind that might be rough and uniquely shaped, but beautiful none-the-less. The kind that sings to the soul.

Pocketful of Poesy Rings

These rings each feature varying clusters of gemstones, most of which are unique cuts and feature surface imperfections.

Heavily crackled pink morganites, the softest pink in all its icy beauty, in some bold and unusual cuts.

Tanzanites, with their ever-soothing hues.

And the tiniest aquamarines carved into little leaves, the ephemeral made everlasting.

These are gemstones that might otherwise be overlooked for their odd shapes or surface crackles, but together tell a beautiful story. Gemstones that complement each other and inform each other, like the poems we pick up through our lives.

And they were carefully paired and then simply set atop an adjustable split half-round bands. I give the size as they read on the mandrel, but this is just a size suggestion for as they look in the photos, they are easily adjustable.

I don’t often make adjustable rings, but I couldn’t resist for this design because it fit the idea so perfectly. Rings that can expand and flex with you through the years, like poems whose meaning and relevance may alter over time as they travel with you through the seasons of your life.

I hope you love this first (of many) secret collection of the year!
